Laura Barrell BSc Biol. BSc Phys. MCSP

I am a Chartered Physiotherapist with a special interest in spinal rehabilitation. My work with back pain does not finish in the clinic. I am involved in some developmental research with the human performance laboratory at the University of Bristol and a founder member of the Sarah Key Institute.

On a personal level, I have suffered through a serious back problem which I believe has given me a greater level of understanding and empathy with back pain sufferers in general. A keen sportswoman and adventurer, I am also empathic with those struggling to return to their activities and have good understanding of the detailed level of rehabilitation required to achieve high level functionality post injury. These interests also lead me into working as a co-trainer on expedition medicine courses on Dartmoor and accompanying expeditions as a Physiotherapist.

I mainly work along side Physiotherapists and Osteopaths to assist in the rehabilitation of pre and post operative patients. I always work very closely with my clients to resolve their outstanding muscular and soft tissue problems using techniques from the wide range of therapies available in my portfolio. I not only strive to relieve the aches and pains or restrictions in movement but also work hard on strengthening, conditioning and muscle balance to prevent a recurrence of that problem.
